Blog Headlines:

Hope Vms Elaine's Dogs is a rescue shelter for dogs founded in the federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We are registered as an Association for the Protection of Animals. Founded in 2013 by sisters Maya Majoly and Sanela Sujoldzic, we work tirelessly to help save the dogs of Sarajevo and surrounding areas from the horrors of life on the streets or the public pounds which are little more than death camps.

Presently we care for 80 dogs at the shelter, feeding, caring and rehabilitating them. We work hard arranging adoptions all over Europe and have had at time of writing this 200 successful adoptions. Every time we find one dog a loving home it allows us to take another into our care and change that dogs life.

With no official funding we rely solely on donations from individuals in the global community to continue or life saving work. We are a private rescue shelter so do not receive any money for boarding dogs like the pensions do.

Hope Vms Elaine's Dogs is a no-kill shelter providing vaccination, sterilization and other necessary medical assistance to all rescued dogs but none of this is possible without help form people like you! You can help by fundraising in your home towns, sponsoring one of our 68 dogs, which provides their food and help towards vaccinations and regular health treatment like flea and worm treatments or buy them a meal or treat here on our web page from as little as 1 Euro.

We also have Facebook pages you can support us on with a regular monthly auction you can donate items to or bid on to fundraise for food, foster transports, rent on the land where our shelter is based and anything else the dogs need to remain healthy. Please come and visit them and share our pages and website on all your social media, every share like every Euro/ Pound or Dollar helps more than we can say.

Thank you all for your help and belief in us!

Coronavirus Dog Food Appeal

Hi Hope Supporters,

Due to the spread of Coronavirus and things changing hour to hour, many shops in Bosnia will definitely close soon. We had raised enough for 15 days of food, but it’s looking now like we really need to try and get as much food purchased as possible. There is no way to know when and if stores will reopen.

We are going to do an ongoing collection so that we can get as much food as possible to the shelter so we can insure our dogs are fed. We simply cannot take the risk of running out of food with over 68 dogs in our care.

Can you help dear friends?

Dogs Needing Homes

Adoption - Urgent Appeal

Update 30/05/20

Thanks to so many friends sharing photos and info on our dogs, we were able to find loving homes for quite a few.

We now have 80 dogs at our shelter per the Bosnian officials. Each of those dogs would still appreciate a loving home and family. Please keep sharing their photos and info.

Thank you all so much for your amazing help and support. We appreciate all of our supporters.

Original Appeal

We have had visits from Bosnian officials since spring of 2019. We have complied with the shelter upgrades they’ve wanted us to incorporate.

NOW THEY ARE TELLING US WE ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO HAVE 80 DOGS AT THE SHELTER. With just 3 months to find homes or fosters for over 25 dogs.

PLEASE HELP US. We cannot let the authorities take any of our dogs away to the public kill shelter. Maya has lovingly cared for these dogs for 5 years now. She knows each dog by name and can tell you everything about each dog.

If you know of anyone who can foster or who would like to adopt. Please send them our way. An inquiry or adoption/foster application can be easily filled out on our website.

This was a surprise visit and a complete shock. We have had over 130 adoptions, but we simply do not naturally adopt out over 20 dogs in a 3 month period.

WE CANNOT FAIL. Our dogs deserve a safe place to live- not based on the whims of Bosnian officials who seem to enjoy setting up rescues to fail.

Thank you all for your ongoing love and help. We will have a whole new round of upgrades that the shelter will need, but right now we are focusing on keeping our dogs safe.
