Meet Mason, a 5-year-old husky cross who needs a loving home where he can do things on his own time. He is a rescue dog from Bosnia currently fostered in Swanmore

Mason can only be described as a gentle soul who craves love and understanding. He is a house-trained and well-behaved dog who doesn’t mind his own company for an hour or two.

He is however fearful when outside his comfort zone. He is a very anxious and fearful dog, which affects his behaviour quite often. He does gradually become more comfortable over time, like new environments, traffic, noise etc, but he needs a patient, experienced owner.

He shows signs of fear around men most likely due to a traumatic experience at hands of dog catchers who are all males. But if given space and time he will be very much ok and even cuddly with them.

He walks well on a harness and lead, but he is not recall trained yet. He is used to being walked in very quiet streets, country lanes, and fields, and can get worried in busier areas. He has adapted really well to traffic noise though. He can live with older kids and cats. We think he would benefit from a stable relationship with a confident dog.

Mason is very affectionate and sweet once he trusts you. But he will need very careful supervision, training, and patience from an owner who is experienced with anxious and fearful dogs.
